Our first real visit to Houston was primarily imposing on another sister. Our oldest was receiving a master's Degree from OSU and we needed a safe place to park the truck and trailer while we flew up to Columbus, Ohio for the ceremony. We also took advantage of her hospitality to visit the Houston Zoo and the Bayou Bend Garden.
More years ago than either of us want to remember Mary and Mike escaped the suburbs and moved downtown. Financially challenging at the time several decades of each saving three hours of commuting time daily validates the choice. One fall evening I stood in front of their house to capture the high rise beacon in the mist.
Here in the Rice University area the Longhorn Armadillo sits on the top of popular restaurant.
And finally here is the Houston skyline as taken one day from the zoo parking lot. In future years we have stayed in Houston for several months to see many of the attractions. As always we seem to be able to suffer through the 70 degree January temperatures wearing shorts and tees while our friends are shoveling snow up in the frozen north.
