After five weeks with dad we did the quick week in Alexandria, Louisiana, three days in New Orleans, Lousiana, and another quick week in Mobile, Alabama before we finally crashed for fifteen days here in Tallahassee. I think I should really have a lot more pictures than these few I was able to find, and we did a few more things than just freeze and shiver when they had a record low of 17 degrees.
When the weather was reasonably warm we spent several days here at Ella Lake park and it was our first experience with these rather weird looking ducks. They are larger than the mallards we are used to seeing but smaller than a goose and you can get a good comparison to the sea gulls in the background. I still have not found a good identification other than so ugly they are cute.
The state capitol complex has the Museum of Florida History which we visited several times because the price was right,: free. As budget travelers we were starting to find many of the Victorian houses and museum attractions were very repetitious at $20 and $30 a couple. On the far right they had the equipment from an old orange processing and sorting operation. They also have this version of a homemade RV used by what is know as the tin can tourists
.
The front of the capitol is graced by this dolphin fountain and the observation deck gives an excellent overview of the city. I know we also visited the Mission San Luis historical village but don't seem to have any pictures. The link here does provide a rather nice virtual tour since I can't give you one.
