Somewhere in searching for attractions we had come across a reference to the Anna Bethel Fisher Rock Garden which turned out to be very nice and a place we are very likely to return as we pass through Illinois.
Tucked into a corner of Nelson Park the entry is unprepossing and the parking lot so obviously leads to the picnic shelter it is easy to overlook. Going over the hill and down the gray stone path opens a wonderland.
These peaceful garden glens are somewhat like a Japanese garden.
Some areas are full sun but most of the garden is in the shade of large mature trees.
This is June but the May flies were swarming. Yes they land on everything and no they do not bite. Touching your skin is much like a mosquito landing without the resulting welt and itch.
