The Botanical Garden in central Indianapolis is in a rather strange position. It is on the grounds of the White River State Park right next to and sort of part of the Zoo. Where it gets strange is our garden membership lets us into the garden free while our Zoo membership gets us into the zoo for half price with free access to the garden but not the other way.

With our travel schedule we try really really hard to avoid the summer heat and the bitter cold so I rarely get to experience any of the old southern gardens at their summer peak. Here the Day Lilies were blooming in an unusual variety of colors.
The lilly pads were blooming in the formal garden and I captured the small figures especially for our friend Ruth Lambert who really enjoyed the type of pictures shown on this page.
