Located right along Route 66 in Elk City, Oklahoma, this small museum shows a lot about the life and times of the dustbowl migration from Oklahoma to a better life in the west.
While the cigar store Indian is a classic, the contrast between what was probably a typical 'Okie" pickup and the 1928 Ford sedan is shocking.
Out behind the main exhibit building are several examples depicting the typical 1930s look here in the farming areas of Oklahoma.
The current blacksmith building is much more modern than anything that would be available in the 1930s but the interior equipment is typical. I really liked the sculptures made with horseshoes and the steam engine that had been used to power the local cotton gin.
