Lookout Mountain forms a humongous arrowhead with Cloudland Canyon State Park on the southwestern lobe in Georgia and the point overlooking Chattanooga in Tennessee.
The state park straddles, to hyperbolize again, a humongous crack along the western edge of the mountain leading to Chattanooga.
Trails cover the park and the whole of Lookout Mountain for hiking, mountain biking, and horses. I did not count the steps but the Waterfall Trail drops about 450 feet to the pool at the head of Sutton Gulch which drops another 400 feet before exiting the park's northern border. Even here in late September the waterfalls are running and should be spectacular if we can get back some spring.
