The Grayson Lake State Park has been a nice place to camp for kayak trips in the lake backwaters. This is a very hilly area and the lake meanders through twisting narrow canyons with 50 to 100 foot walls. On this trip it was just a nice place to camp and chill for a few days although the weekend when all the kids showed up with the party parents was a little less pleasant. Converting the primative camping and open fields to a golf course has definitely not improved the clientele.
This was August with recent rains so we went looking for fun guys.
I mentioned this is a very hilly area and after the rains the trails tended to be somewhat slick so we were grateful anyplace there were modern conveniences like stairs. The pioneers and Indians wandered all over this area and did well without.
We may get back here again some year in the fall or although not strictly part of our retirement travels I should probably include some of the pictures of the canyons which are spectacular.
