The Dallas World Aquarium is a whole lot more that a simple fish tank. They have fish and huge tanks but they have also tried to recreate a multilevel rainforest environment with a lot of other animals and plants.
The website does not describe things well but I recall the waterfall being about 90 feet dropping into a pool on the lower floor.
Up here near the top the grayish bundle is the Three Toed Sloth
. Hard to see but his eyes are open and he is watching me carefully as I jockey for a good view. The little guy climbing the branch is a miniature monkey that is relatively rare.
Cheating by looking at the website the golden guy with the worn beak is a Saffron Toucanet
but the other two were not featured so I have not more clue than more birds.
The reflections from the glass sort of get in the way but the Orangutan sitting here was just precious. The little guinea pig type guy I think is a Rock Hyrex
actually more closely related to elephants. Everyone recognizes the guy in the tux and I could not find the identification for the guy with the big bill.
Leaving the land animals and getting over to the actuall aquarium parts, no, Lori is not actually swimming in the tank but only on the other side of a see through exhibit. I can't recall the name of the big fish but remember it is a very very old species. The long skinny guy darting around is an electric eel
There were a series of these aquariums showing typical coral reefs from various parts of the world. From left to right is Sir Lanka, Lord Howe Island, and the Solomon Islands.
And finally we have the big sea clams and the little fish that groom them without getting caught.
