2009 is our third full year of travels. After spending all of December in Louisiana to see my dad we were ready to get on the road again. We still had three free coupons at Holiday Inn that expired the end of January so we made a loop to use them in the expensive New Orleans area and then over to the east coast for the colder months. Then it was through Columbus Ohio to see doctors and friends before getting back to finalize dad's taxes. Dad was starting to have more difficulties coping with daily living so we picked the Dallas Fort Worth area to spend a couple months with several four hour trips to help dad in Shreveport. After the mid year pilgrimage to Columbus Ohio we made a short lower Midwest loop with a month in Louisville Kentucky before going back to December in Louisiana with dad. We were getting into longer stays so we only had thirty-one days of travel and more time to explore.
Again for the curious this totals up to only 7,254 miles between motels and campgrounds with local travel over double that due to the longer stays. It also passes through at least part of 18 states still focused on that Shreveport, Louisiana and Columbus, Ohio axis with the big loop to the east this year. The picture taking didn't slack off with over 2600 photographs to wade through and I added over 600 to the site so you can see the states, cities, and special attractions we enjoyed.
