Rambling 2011

2011 is our fifth full full year of travels. After spending all of December in Louisiana to see my dad we were ready to get on the road again. This year we returned to San Antonio both to replace all my photographs I lost in computer transitions and to pickup the tickets for our grand Amtrak excursion to Albuquerque and Seattle in April and May. Then it was back through Louisiana on the way to Columbus Ohio to see doctors and friends before getting back to finalize dad's taxes. Along the way we checked out barn quilts in Georgetown and Nashville resolving to come back to both later in the year. We arrainged with our oldest to leave the truck and trailer in Saint Louis during our Great Train Adventure. As soon as we got back we just left the trailer in Saint Louis to make a quick trip down to Shreveport Louisiana to resolve some financial issues with dad before heading off to Kentucky and barn quilts on the way to Columbus Ohio to see doctors and friends in July. August and September were wandering through Kentucky and Tennessee before spending November in Columbus Ohio and back to Louisiana in early December. I really do as much cut and paste as I can on these pages and it is amazing how similar a lot of the timing is to 2010. I think we are getting too predictable.

2011 Travels Map

Again for the curious this totals up to 7,757 miles between motels and campgrounds and another 5,922 miles on Amtrak. It also passes through at least part of 22 states or 23 if you count the quick dip from Chatanooga into Georgia. The picture taking was steady with almost 6400 photographs to wade through so you can see the states, cities, and special attractions we enjoyed.

This link to the 2011 Travel Map will take you to an extremely detailed view in Google Maps that is fully interactive and can be zoomed in to see the exact routes if you'll be patient while it loads. Google has also started charging for links to their maps but I think I have that resolved.
