Here staying in Atlanta for the first time, well actually Norcross on the northeast side, our primary focus remained on recovering from the creepy crud we experienced in Montgomery, Alabama.
Probably after our experience freezing in Tallahassee, Florida we should not have been really surprised to wake up to a winter wonderland a few days after we arrived. Based on our experience in northern Idaho it was a little slithery but not too bad. Being prudent we stayed close to the motel and mostly walked until it melted a couple days later.
Serendipity does tend to intrude into most things and on one of our walks stopping at a computer store of all things I discovered a really nice 4X6 photo album. For some time now I had been sending our granddaughter a photo of our travels every week and they were starting to clutter up the fridge. Since the album cover had a insert window I personalized it with a picture I had taken of her at the zoo and off it went to become a future treasure.
What a difference a few days makes. While not in Atlanta proper the Vines Mansion and Garden was a welcome change from the much more commercial Atlanta Botanical Garden. It was not filled with flowers like in the summer, but it was not filled with people either and we could just have a pleasant walk around the lake. The actual mansion was being used for a special function so we could not see the inside if it. This is one of the newest botanical gardens in the Atlanta area and rather rustic due a lot to it's musical ownership you can read about on the above website.
Also not in Atlanta proper the nearby Southeastern Railway Museum was a great place to explore on a nice day.
